Chair
Herter Brothers, the New York concern of brothers Gustave (1830–1898) and Christian (1840–1883) was known for Anglo-Japanese furniture and interiors during the 1880s. This style, characterized by slender lines, flat surface patterns, and rectilinear forms, was first popularized by the British architect E. W. Goodwin (1833–1886) in his illustrated book "Art Furniture" (London, 1877).
