Frame
William K. O'Brien and Brother went into business during the 1840s. They probably made this frame about mid-century, though the label on the back is the one they used between 1872 and 1873. The label may date the sale of the frame, rather than the manufacture. The scrolled foliage in relief, crested corners and centers, inner bands of bead-and-fusilli and water leaf, and the balls set inside the swept sides made this an unusually bold interpretation of Louis XV style.
