Early Morning—Venice
Bunce was fascinated by Venice and sketched there often. Although undated, this picture was probably painted early in his career. It was acquired by his dealer James Inglis, owner of Cottier and Company. Inglis died in 1907, and two years later the painting was sold at auction to George A. Hearn. In the sale catalogue, the setting was identified as the front of the Public Gardens in Venice.
